A true native New Yorker with exceptional and versatile talents, Monica Re Martin exemplifies the ideal freelance musician in today’s world. As a highly sought-after violinist & violist, she has performed on stages internationally with numerous top-tier artists and groups.
Ms. Martin performs regularly with several orchestras around the country, including the New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared on Broadway in the Phantom of the Opera, Notre-Dame de Paris, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Ms. Martin has had the pleasure of performing in sold out concerts at major halls and arenas with artists like Andrea Bocelli, Kygo, Danny Elfman, Kristin Chenoweth, David Foster, and Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks. She can also be heard playing violin and viola on albums by Victor Gould, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, and the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic.
Ms. Martin is also no stranger to TV, and can be seen on Bravo TV's "Million Dollar Listing: New York," "Summer House," and "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," as well as performing on Good Morning America with Tiera Kennedy and on Fox & Friends for their All-American Christmas Concert Series with Rod+Rose (Rodney Atkins and Rose Falcon). Most recently, you can catch her playing on the soundtracks for the miniseries "Expats" on Amazon Prime Video and Season 2 of "Life & Beth" on Hulu. Along with her active performance schedule, Ms. Martin is a passionate educator, making string learning fun for hundreds of students of all ages in various settings throughout her career. She has previously held teaching artist positions with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the InterSchool Orchestras of New York, and French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts.
Ms. Martin’s string arrangements have also made her an in-demand and respected resource for event companies and organizations. Her keen ear, deep understanding of diverse musical styles, and invaluable knowledge of what fits a string player’s hand best at all levels of technical ability set her arrangements apart from the pack. Ms. Martin holds a B.M. in Violin Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at CUNY Queens College, where she studied with Daniel Phillips, and performs on her grandfather’s violin.
